Tomato Festival Bingo
Each year we run a 50/50 Bingo for the 4 days of the Pittston Tomato Festival in August. Our world famous bingo calling president will be making a repeat performance again this year. This is our major fundraiser that supports many of our other projects. Come out and enjoy all the festival has to offer.
Score a Goal Against Hunger Food Drive
Our newest project is a food drive with the help of the Penguin's Hockey Team and their fans. We collect canned food at one game in the spring which is divided up between the local Salvation Army Food Banks. Money collected through donations and ticket sales is donated to the local soup kitchen.
Blood Screening
The annual Blood Screening project is held at the Wyoming Area High School each year. It's a convenient and low cost way for people and their doctors to keep up on yearly testing.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing
Club members will man the Christmas Kettles to help raise much-needed funds for the Pittston Area Salvation Army. Last year there were sightings of happy reindeer on our collection day.
Third Grade Dictionary Program
Each year we provide a student dictionary to every Pittston Area student in the third grade. We enjoy passing them out, but not as much as they enjoy the visit and gift.
Essay Contest
Pittston Area High School students are encouraged to enter our yearly essay contest. The top three essays are awarded cash prizes and the winners join us for lunch to read their essays.
WVIA Telethon
Club members will man the phones at WVIA studios to help raise much needed funds for this local public television station. Without the support of the community public television would cease to exist in our area.
And Much More
The Pittston Rotary is always available for special projects and direct donations to worthy public service organizations. If you have an organization that is in need or have an idea for a project, we would love to hear from you.
